Admission & Enrollment
Smart Art operates in a family friendly environment, and therefore, no smoking is allowed anywhere inside the studio. If you need to smoke, please do so outside the studio. In addition, please note that Alcoholic beverages or drugs are NOT permitted in the studio.
Because this is a family friendly place, please refrain from excessive PDA, or use of profanity/foul language. While we respect your right to free speech, we kindly ask you to respect your fellow students and the presence of children in the area
For classes where materials are provided, please let your instructor help you with the materials needed to complete your art project. Art materials can be expensive and to minimize waste and keep the cost of your favourite classes and workshops down, we kindly ask you to only let the instructors handle the materials and when you require more materials, let your instructor know and they will be happy to help you
Advance registration for Smart Art classes is required to secure your place in class and to ensure that the class will run. Enrollment is limited and accepted on a first-paid basis. Registrations will not be confirmed without payment. When registering a student under the age of 17 Program Participation packet must also be submitted, which you can fill out here. Registration continues to the date of the first class unless a deadline is specified
A minimum number of registered students is required. In addition, a maximum enrollment exists to ensure the quality of the student’s experience. Only fully paid registrations will be considered as enrolled. By delaying payment, individuals run the risk of being wait-listed or class being cancelled due to not enough enrollment
Smart Art reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient enrollment. Classes will be cancelled, and notifications to students will be made up to 24 hours before the start of the class. Full refunds or credits will be given when Smart Art cancels a class due to low enrollment.
It is understandable that a student’s schedule may change, or unforeseen circumstances prevent attendance. In the case that an enrolled student cannot attend class, the student or parent of student should notify Smart Art as early as possible, up to 24 hours ahead of class time.
Students who miss class do so at their own loss, unless they notify Smart Art via phone call or message up to 24 hours ahead of class time
Students unable to attend a class for any reason, and who give prior notice, can make up the class they missed during a different scheduled class time. If Smart Art cancels a class for any reason, students will be entitled to a makeup class to be agreed upon between the students and their instructor.
An enrolled student withdrawing from a class after it begins will receive no refund, unless outstanding circumstances exist (e.g. medical condition or family emergency)
Unless otherwise noted, classes are open to all and recommended for beginner to intermediate levels. Children and teens should be enrolled within their age groups. Smart Art Staff is happy to field other questions about the appropriateness of any class.
Children & Family Classes:
Materials are included for all children’s and family classes unless otherwise noted. Smocks are not available to cover clothing. Children should still wear their “messy clothes” if possible.
Students enrolled in adult classes and workshops are responsible for all materials unless otherwise noted. If students wish to use the studio materials for their classes, there will be an additional fee that must be paid before class starts.
Unless Smart Art is notified in writing, enrollment indicates that the student grants permission to Smart Art for use of photographs and/or images of artwork and/or students for Smart Art educational, publicity, archival, or grant purposes. These images will be in print, media or broadcast formats. Written requests denying this permission must be given on or before the first day of class.
